  • COURSE INFORMATION

    • WELCOME

    • Welcome to English for Engineering Undergraduates

This course has been designed to help undergraduate Engineering students develop the English language skills needed to understand, discuss and communicate engineering topics in academic and professional contexts.

Throughout the course, you will work with technical materials and practical activities that will help you improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills while expanding your knowledge of engineering terminology. By the end of the course, you will be better prepared to communicate effectively in international engineering environments and to use English confidently in your academic studies and future career.

    • Recommeded Level

Intermediate level of English (B1 CEFR). Students with a B2 level will be able to engage more effectively with academic readings, technical texts, oral presentations and engineering-related materials in English.

    • COURSE METHODOLOGY

This course follows an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach and has been designed to meet the academic and professional language needs of undergraduate Engineering students.

Learning is organised through thematic units that combine the development of language skills with engineering content. Students will work with authentic and adapted materials, including technical texts, engineering articles, manuals, technical specifications, diagrams and audiovisual resources.

Each unit integrates the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), together with vocabulary and grammar presented in meaningful engineering contexts. Activities are designed to promote active learning, problem-solving, critical thinking and the practical use of English in academic and professional engineering settings.

The course encourages autonomous learning through self-assessment activities, additional resources and opportunities for independent study. Students are expected to progress at their own pace while developing confidence in using English to communicate engineering knowledge effectively in both academic and professional environments.
